Annandale
Design, one of the UK's leading manufacturers and installers of architectural
metalwork, has successfully completed a contract worth almost £250,000
for the Scottish Mutual Headquarters in Glasgow.
The
contract was to manufacture and install stainless steel balustrading
and handrails throughout the building, however the company also designed,
manufactured and installed these stunning stainless steel gates to the
frontage of the building in Glasgow's St Vincent Street.
Annandale
Design won the contract thanks to the team's ability to design, manufacture
and install all specified products themselves. The gates are an especially
successful part of the project, and were designed by Abbey Holford Rowe's
Brian McArthur, one of the UK's most up and coming architects. Reminiscent
of Charles Rennie Mackintosh motifs, they are made of polished stainless
steel and perforated stainless steel panels. The result proves Annandale
Design's ability to produce intricate and unusual designs in all types
of metal, and the stunning effects that can be created using metal.
In
addition to producing and installing the gates, Annandale Design carried
out all the metalwork inside the building, including the stairs, which
feature glass inserts. The glass panels were also custom designed by
Brian McArthur, and have ceramic inlays.
Allan
Frew, managing director of Annandale Design, said: "I'm really pleased
with the variety of work involved in this contract. The gates are very
visually appealing, and add a great deal of character - not just to
the building, but to the street as a whole. They are also a very fitting
feature for the city. The contract is a real coup for Annandale as it
has a heavy design focus and we are delighted to have successfully completed
it to the exemplary standards of the client."
